La Tomatina Festival 2026

The Festival

La Tomatina is the world's biggest food fight, held annually on the last Wednesday of August. Over 20,000 participants throw more than 100 metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes for exactly one hour. Since 2013, attendance has been capped, making official tickets mandatory for entry.

• 11:00: Palo Jabón - climbing a greased pole to claim a ham.
• 12:00: Water cannons fire, tomato trucks arrive, and the fight begins.
• 13:00: Second cannon signals the end; streets are hosed down.
• Evening: Official after-party.

Rules of the Fight

• No bottles or hard objects.
• Do not rip shirts.
• Squash tomatoes before throwing.
• Keep distance from lorries.
• Stop throwing on the second cannon.
• Wear closed shoes.
