Indiana Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF) and local chambers of business across Indiana, is hosting a statewide civics contest that will be a first of its kind. The 2023-24 National Civics Bee encourages students in middle school grades 6-8 to learn about civics and to contribute to their community.
Students can win cash prizes and recognition by sharing their ideas to improve their community and showing their passion for civics. The competition is modeled after traditional spelling bees and geography bees. The Indiana State Finals winner will be invited to Washington, D.C. in fall 2024 to compete at the first National Civics Bee National Championship.
The National Civics Bee Indiana State Finals are being held because we think that informed and engaged citizens contribute to a stronger country, economy and workforce. Our continued prosperity is dependent on all three. We are celebrating civic pride and promoting civic knowledge in Indiana through the Bee.
Students in Indiana who are enrolled at a private, public or homeschool institution and are in grades 6, 7, or 8 can participate. Students can enter by selecting one of Indiana's local Chamber competitions (see the links above), and following the rules, guidelines and steps provided by the chamber.
