Advice for visitors: Bring comfortable shoes, a water bottle, and a smile so you can enjoy the fair all day. The Harwinton Fair celebrated a winner of the 2024 youth poster contest and wants to thank many people who help make the fair special. Sponsors such as Bigos Farm, Core Event Planning, Friendship Baptist Church of Litchfield, Hale Hill Biofuels, Supreme Industries, Schultz Corporation, Tidy Services, and W.I. Clark helped fund events and prizes. The fair also thanks all of the exhibitors and volunteers. Their hard work helps the fair become a world-famous event that families and friends can enjoy together. Kids, parents, and community members all play a part. If you enter contests or show an exhibit, remember to be proud of your work and say thank you to the people who help run the fair.
The Harwinton Agricultural Society and the Association of Connecticut Fairs offer several scholarships to help students pay for school. The Association of Connecticut Fairs gives three scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating high school seniors or current college students. These applications are due by May 15. The Harwinton Agricultural Society offers two scholarships of $1,500 each for students who have worked at or shown an exhibit at the fair. One of these is for a student who will study agriculture, family and consumer science, or a related field. The other can go to a student studying any subject. To be eligible, applicants must be Connecticut residents and enrolled at an accredited school. Previous winners are allowed to apply again. To apply for the Harwinton scholarships, fill out and return the application by June 30. If you need help, ask a teacher, a parent, or a fair volunteer for advice about the forms and deadlines. Keep copies of your documents and apply early so your materials arrive on time. The fair encourages students to apply and thanks everyone who helps make these opportunities possible.
